Concordance Announces Essye B. Miller to Board of Directors

As Concordance continues advancing its evidence-informed re-entry model across multiple communities, the organization has welcomed nationally recognized federal leader Essye B. Miller to its Board of Directors.
“We are honored to welcome Essye to the Concordance Board of Directors,” said Susan Stith, Chief Executive Officer of Concordance. “Essye understands how systems affect people. She has spent her career improving large, complex institutions, and that perspective will be invaluable as we continue building pathways to stability and opportunity for the individuals we serve.”
Miller is a recognized leader with more than 35 years of federal experience driving cross-cutting information technology and business transformation initiatives for the Air Force, Army, and Department of Defense. As Acting Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense, she served as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense on information technology, cybersecurity, and critical telecommunications issues. She retired in 2020 as the Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense.
Throughout her distinguished career, Miller received numerous medals and commendations, including the Meritorious Presidential Rank Award, one of the highest honors awarded to career civil servants and bestowed upon only five percent of senior executives across the federal government.
“I spent much of my career focused on building systems that serve people and missions,” said Miller. “What drew me to Concordance is its clear commitment to restoring lives and strengthening communities in a meaningful way. I am excited to support this work and contribute alongside leaders who believe in second chances and measurable impact.”
Miller currently serves as a corporate board director for Corporate Office Properties Trust (NYSE: CDP) and several privately held technology and cybersecurity companies. A native of Alabama, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Talladega College, a Master of Business Administration from Troy State University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from Air University in Montgomery, Alabama. In May 2021, Talladega College conferred upon her an Honorary Doctor of Science degree.
